In the area of Brescia, on the southern shore of the great Lake Garda, is a peninsula of around 4 kilometres named Sirmione.
This land, with its picturesque shape, is able to attract many tourists every year and is recognised as the symbol of Garda all over the world.
Many details characterise it, from its shape to its long history.
The historic centre is 100% pedestrian with narrow, irregular streets often full of tourists visiting throughout the year. You get there by crossing the castle's drawbridge, an imposing and well-preserved historic monument dating back to the Scaliger era, which can still be visited along its walls and from which you can enjoy breathtaking and romantic views of the town itself and the lake.
Don’t miss the Passeggiata delle Muse (Walk of the Muses). An eagle’s eye walk along the lake that will take you from the historic centre to the Lido delle Bionde. Sirmione's busiest beach, with establishment services and the possibility of canoeing and Sup.
From here you can reach the Jamaica beach, which is characteristic because it can only be visited when the lake is low and you can lie on its "floes".
Right here, at the tip of the peninsula, are the ancient ruins and caves of Catullus (Catullo): a well-known Roman poet who lived here and wrote about this enchanting place in his works, as did many others.
Despite its name (given after the poet's death), it is the remains of a Roman residential villa.
For relaxation lovers, Sirmione has a real treat in store. Just a few steps away from the caves, you can enjoy a day at the Catullus Spa. Here you can benefit from therapeutic, wellness, beauty and spa treatments, as well as a wonderful swimming pool with a direct view of Lake Garda.
